I had this adapter for more than seven months and there was no problem of any kind. It works fine. This "3.5-mm stereo male mini-plug to 2X RCA female" adapter measures 2" long X 1" wide. I use it to connect my Xbox 360 audio to a mp3 speaker. The audio from the games is as good as any mp3 songs I play through the speaker.
As a backup, I had also purchased a 3.5mm 1/8" Mini Plug to 2 RCA Jacks Y Adapter 6 inch which was considerably cheaper. I tried two seperate turntables and the result was the same. It does not seem cost effective to return the Cables To Go product so it will just get trashed. I purchased this item to connect a turntable to my PC soundcard. The adapter produced a loud hum. This Y adapter worked well at about a quarter of the cost.
This item way over priced, I do not know why I ordered this. The two adapters (.35mm and RCA)conneted with wire is better that this one piece. This item is not worth more than $2.99.
Some TV's, like my Westinghouse HDTV, can't use RCA (red and white wires) for audio when using a VGA connection. I wanted to get the VGA cable because they WILL give me 1080p when I'm playing a HD-DVD.
It's hard to write a review on a small product, but it get's the job done. Well, after numerous calls to Westinghouse and Microsoft about why I can't get audio using the VGA and RCA cables, I did my own research online, and luckily I came across this.
Component cables are fine, just that it will give everybody a 1080i picture when playing HD-DVD's, but not games though, they provide 1080p for games but not HD-DVD's for some reason. REMEMBER THAT GUYS/GALS.
Good adapter. I have a XBOX 360 and I have component cables.
Some HDTV's only will allow sound through VGA connection using the "MiniJack" input.
